A Girl's Guide to Everything

How does a girl walk in high heels?

Ask me and I’ll tell you to “practice” with them in the house before wearing them out. Once the tripping has turned into semi-graceful tottering, then you’ll know that they’re ready for their public debut. I’m sure British Vogue columnist Camilla Morton has better answers in her U.K bestseller, “How to Walk in High Heels: A Girl’s Guide to Everything”. Aside from shoe tips, she wittily dispenses a lot of practical advice- from how to fix a laptop to how to put on makeup in 5 minutes. She also gets a little help from her friends Manolo Blahnik (how to pick a good shoe), Gisele Bundchen (how to look good in a photo), and Anya Hindmarch (how to execute perfect packing). I haven’t checked out the book myself but I’ll quote the favorite section of one of the book’s fans:

Fact: supermarket aisles are the perfect place to practice your glide. Not only do you get to stock up on all your groceries and wow the locals, but you get up to twenty-four aisles' worth of runway-smooth surface to practice on, while being supported by a trolley, the ultimate stabilizer for the novice stiletto wearer. Ignore any funny looks, they are either jealous they didn't think of this idea, or mystified why someone so glamorous doesn't have 'hired help' to do their shopping'.

As publishing trends go, I suppose we can expect a how-to equivalent for us males, eh? :) Refreshing to see that despite the efforts of hardline feminists, we are still humble and SANE enough to appreciate and even enjoy books such as this one. Take a bow.
