A Look at Cashmere

STYLE 101: Cashmere

prodImage.jpg

1. Cashmere- that ultra lux material i'd like to be swathed in forever- is actually made out of the wool of the cashmere goat.

2. In order for goat fiber to be considered cashmere, it must be at least 3.175 centimeters long and have under 18.5 micrometers (thank you, Wikipedia).

3. China is the largest producer of raw cashmere. Note to self: watch out for cashmere outfits when in Beijing and Shanghai next week.

4. Most cashmere sweaters are too preppy for my taste. So I can say that I buy cashmere more for the way it feels on my skin than for the way it looks. When I find one thats rather unique, because of the way its woven or because of the print, I buy it right away. So it goes without saying that this coffee bean cashmere sweater with a dragon from Bluefly is part of my Christmas wish list.
