Channeling Coco

Audrey Tautou will be playing one of the most iconic women in fashion, Coco Chanel. French director Anne Fontaine said that she already had Audrey in mind before developing the movie. The film will be about Coco as a young woman- "poor, uneducated, but with extraordinary personality and talent".

What a perfect casting pick! Audrey has that ingenue-from-the-old-world charm that teeters near the eccentric. I bet she doesn't even need to exert that much of an effort to play the young Coco. They're also both French and look so much alike:

As for me, I can't wait to watch the film (shooting begins in early 2008). Coco has become legend...but we know her through her perfume and her bags and the couture she has inspired. I want to learn more of her as a person, as the struggling artist/designer who injected so much of her peronality into what she created.
