Clean Your Cosmetics

Since we take such good care of our skin, it makes perfect sense not to neglect those things we come into daily contact with. Cosmetics- both skin care products, makeup, and makeup tools- are the number one carriers of bacteria since we use them on germ-prone areas of our body.

Aside from keeping your cosmetics in a clean, dry area, it would be good to keep in mind their shelf life:

* Lotions and cleansers have fatty acids which can turn bad after 6 months. You can also watch out for obvious signs of spoilage, such as discoloration and bad odor.

* Mascara tubes are breeding farms for bacteria. Buy a new one after 3 months.

* Powders, such as blush on and eye-shadow, have a lifespan of a year.

Its also important to take care of makeup tools, especially brushes. I've always washed them with mild baby shampoo but it always took a while to wash the fluid out. The Sephora Brush Shampoo is less of a hassle, you just spray it on and then wipe it to remove the residue.

So, clean well and thoroughly. Toss your old cosmetics out and buy new ones. Your skin will thank you for it!
