First Aid for Jet Lag

I took a 23 hour flight a few days ago and those charming people who fetched me from the airport all agreed that I should be the poster girl for tired. I certainly looked it. Static had my hair in unmanageable disarray, my skin was dry, and there were dark circles under my eyes. The next day wasn’t any better as I had to go back to work right away. There is nothing like going to the office with jet lag (except, maybe, going to the office with a hangover). While looking 100% fresh, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed can only be achieved with 8 hours of sleep, it can be, to an extent, faked. I call it damage control. You’ll want to work on your eyes first because those are the most noticeable when you are stressed. For puffy eyes, apply de-puffing action eye gel to firm up skin and reduce the swelling. If there are dark circles under them, a yellow concealer or correcting cream will neutralize the discoloration. The yellow also works for red spots. After fixing your eye area you can go ahead and apply makeup as you usually do. To simulate a fresh glow, brush a highlighter across the apples of your cheeks and your brow lines. There you go…if you don’t feel perky and energetic at least you can look it.
