How crochet can be wearable after all

When I hear the word "crochet", what comes to mind is that dismal doily project I had in grade school. My grandmother made thick, snowy crochet lace that served as classy-looking fringes to her bedsheets and curtains. They were beautiful but, back then, I still thought that the most fun one can do with crochet was to make multi-colored friendship bracelets.

Illustrator Amanda Langdown proves that crochet can be fashionable with her bolero-type sweater. What would have been a drab granny wrap was embellished with mod-looking buckles and kitschy motifs.
