Shopping in Tokyo

What began with a ticket to Tokyo led to quite an extensive leave from fashion blogging. My apologies for jetting off without so much as an explanation.

Anyhoo, I am back and am happy to report that I have many many things to share in the next few days.

To begin with, I should tell you something about the fashion in Japan. When I get the chance to travel to a new place, the first areas I check out are the local markets. Not only are the clothes cheaper, its also a great place to see things from the point of view of the locals. However, there is no such thing (at least, to my knowledge) of such a market in Tokyo. They have a treasure trove of all the luxury brands and even the home grown brands- no matter how kawaii- are pricey.

Thanks to a friend, I discovered UNIQLO, which is somewhat like the Japanese version of GAP...good quality clothing, somewhat basic, but at a super reasonable price. The stylish stuff are few and in between but I'm all for mixing and matching. A great outfit is partly comprised of the basics, right?
