Sneak Peek

Having celebrities guest-edit our favorite magazines is almost as good as getting them to maintain their own blogs. Vogue Magazine started the trend by temporarily handing over their editorial reins on certain issues to celebrities like Baz Luhrmann and Chanel maestro Karl Lagerfeld. Vogue Australia's next guest editor for their December 2006 issue is no other than Kylie Minogue. A profile shot by the editorial credits wont do justice to Kylie so she gets to be on the cover and the inside spreads as well. Our girl Kylie was already reaching the heights of celebrity-hood in the eighties and I think Vogue chose her as editor/cover girl partly as a nod to the new wave trend that is currently sweeping over the fashion industry.

I don't care for her heavy makeup or the Dolce and Gabbana outfits she wore for the shoot...but Kylie looks tougher and more mature and it actually suits her. I wonder if she has shed her pop image for good. Can it be because of the new hairdo? She lost hair in chemotherapy and is now sporting closely cropped golden locks. Nah. According to Vogue, she writes in her editor's letter: "Since my cancer diagnosis, my whole world changed. I have learned and experienced so much about myself and others. It's great to be able to make those first steps back into the life I knew before, the one I know better now." Thats probably it.
