Style and Food

I don't understand why some people in fashion see food as the enemy.

Food energizes and- when handled by the right hands- transforms into something utterly delicious and heavenly. If one really wants to look like a wraith in the latest Dolce & Gabbana creation, then one should cut back on the booze and exercise, for goodness sake. Don't put the blame on good food.

I've been reading Isabel Allende's Aphrodite, which is a non-fiction book about food, life, and aphrodisiacs. Its made me think about how good style doesn't only apply to the clothes we wear...but to other aspects of our life. Such as the food we enjoy. Think about it: what is a party without the champagne, a picnic without crusty bread and salmon mousse spread, or tea without fruit-garnished crumpets? Why do you think a city's trendiest, most awaited events (more often than not) are the launches of hip new restaurants and cafes? It just means that celebrating good food is one of the ways we live life with style.
