The bag that took the U.K by storm

im%20not%20a%20plastic%20bag.JPG This bag is too plain for my taste but i'm not Keira Knightly and scores of women who are really into the latest Anya Hindmarch bag. It was introduced barely 2 days ago- April 25 to be exact- and now it has been wiped off all Sainsbury shelves, never to be introduced again...at least in U.K soil that is. The cotton carrier, emblazoned with the words "I am not a plastic bag", was meant to raise awareness for the environment. Think about it- plastic bags were too flimsy for the grocery anyway and are a hassle to dispose. If you beleive in Hindmarch's trendy green philosophy, are raring for the carrier, and cannot stomach the insanely priced ones on eBay (from the original £5 to £100!), then you'll have to depend on friends from overseas to get you one. Hindmarch's website says:

We will be launching a cream bag with navy blue writing for the U.S. These bags will launch on June 20th in Anya Hindmarch stores, Ron Herman and Fred Segal Flair in LA and Holt Renfrew in Canada. In July these bags will be available through selected East Coast Whole Foods Markets.

We will be launching a cream bag with green lettering in Japan in July. These bags will also be available through Anya Hindmarch stores, Isetan and Dover Street Market Tokyo.

A cream bag with grey lettering will be launched in July through Anya Hindmarch stores in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia and Beijing. It will also be available through On Pedder stores in Jakarta, Bangkok and Shanghai.

Brown Thomas in Ireland and Corso Como in Milan will also be stocking the brown version of the bag in July.

I emailed Anna's site and received a reply a few days ago and according to Isabel they are not going to be selling the us version online to UK buyers as per there site. This has really annoyed me as I have been after a bag for ages unlucky and not able to get one in the uk do not want to pay enay prices

Interesting I emailed Isabel too in April and was told that i could email anywhere from around the world on the May 7th (changed to end of May) but the blue version will not be available until June.

You best bet is to call the Ron Herman Stores Melrose and South Coast and put yourself on the waiting list and they will contact you in June.

Also the Lavender Trust(UK) is selling the lilac version for £78(inc p&p) for breast cancer awareness.
