'Tis the Season to Glow

The holidays have always been about glowing, shining, and bedazzling. Its a season of lights and bright colors. Tiny bulbs are strung around the Christmas tree and star-shaped lanterns abound. This holiday obsession for glow and anything shiny also carries over to fashion. Velvet, silk, and satin find their way into cocktail dresses and warm outer wear. Jewelry is also piled on.

earings.jpg Making earrings is a hobby of mine so finding the perfect pair to match my holiday outfits is never a problem- give me 20 minutes and i'll have something ready to wear. But if I were swamped with work and had less than 20 minutes to jazz up a rather generic-looking outfit for a party, i'd go for this pair from Urbanoutfitters. Intricate and colorful, it will make up for the simplicity.

coins.jpg I still like those long, multi-layered chain and bead necklaces but every girl seems to be wearing those already. An alternative would be this coin necklace from Vibe the Boutique. Sticking to the trend, it remains long and multi-stranded. The difference is that it does away with the (almost ridiculously huge) beads and stays simple and elegant. I particularly like the use of coins...in some Asian cultures, wearing something that resembles a coin during New Year is beleived to bring about luck and prosperity...2 things we can always use.

Then again, its a classic style that will add a glam factor to any outfit. Again, thats something we can always use, whatever the season.
