Valentino runs away from the ghosts of fashion's past

...no, not those red gowns behind him. Those are part of the 300 of his best gowns displayed in an exhibit in the Ara Pacis (Arch of Peace) museum in Rome. The showcase is part of the celebrations surrounding Valentino's 45th anniversary in fashion.

The ghosts would be the three worst things in fashion, according to Valentino: "the 1980’s, personified by the television series, Dallas and Dynasty; Minimalism, the all-black trend pioneered by the avant-garde Japanese; and grunge, which was launched by the American designer, Marc Jacobs."
