WEATHER FORECAST: nippy, FASHION ADVISORY: light outer wear

Ah, it’s that time of the year again. The temperature hasn’t dipped low enough to bring out the coats of winter (2005) past from the closet just yet. However, the breeze is already too nippy for comfort. Its time to opt for light but cozy outer wear.

This GAP wool jacket exudes classic Chanel. The sharp vintage look may look too overbearing if you’re below 40 (like me), and that’s why I just love this one’s stylish cropped length. Trendy and classic hardly go well together but the GAP jacket works it out very nicely. The look can be completed by layering those long-length tees (summer leftovers) underneath, past the hem and the ¾ length sleeves.

Speaking of long-length tees, Delias carries over the trend into a wool plaid coat. Its too early in the season to be wearing warmer trousers so I can imagine it still being worn with leggings or skinny jeans. Very mod.

‘Frumpy’ or ‘bulky’, the two things you should try to avoid when it comes to outer wear, and these certainly didn’t come to mind when I saw this white Victoria’s Secret cardigan. This piece will keep anyone cozy (what with its rich hook-and-eye stitches) and, yes, stylish too. The high collar and wide cuffs sets it apart from any other cardigan I’ve seen so far. I also really like the details, particularly the satin trim and silver clasps.
